Incentives Paradise

By: Lana Wright

You’ve analyzed, forecasted results and costs before launching on a grand scale. And then your participants take ownership and challenge each other to greater heights. Who’s the champion now?

You need to design an incentive plan that will get you better results. You can start bysetting targets and reward those who achieve them. You can also set the same targets and encourage all participants to raise their own bar and compete for top results, plus rewards and bragging rights.
By having a Peer Challenge, you allow individuals or teams to compete with each other and pull out all the stops for greater results. There’s nothing as motivating as a little friendly competition – especially when the whole company is cheering you on!

Why do many people fail before they have even started? Its because it’s all in their mind. Many people think too much about the consequences of failure and start to sabotage their success before they even begin. They talk themselves out of succeeding at anything and so don’t bother to start.

Because everything you want to do and everything you will be able to do is in your mind, it makes sense to work with your mind. The way to do that is to make sure as much as possible that you have a passion for everything you decide you want to achieve.

It’s tough out there right now and many managers have gone through layoffs and pay freezes within their departments. In many cases, employee morale is at an all-time low. While you may not be able to use money as a motivator, there are several inexpensive (and sometimes free) ways to motivate staff.

1. Communicate! In virtually every study ever done managers rate themselves as good communicators, however in those same studies employees rate their managers as poor communicators. You cannot focus on this subject enough. Poor communication only leads to distrust and fear – both of which do not lead to happy, motivated and productive employees. (more…)

You Are Never Too Old To Dream A New Dream

By: Albert Mensah

You are never too old to dream a new dream. Isn’t that a beautiful statement? Indeed, the thought of growing older is never appealing. Not only do we feel bad over the physical changes that take place, but with every passing year we look back and wonder what could have been. What could we have achieved if only we started getting serious about life when we were younger? What great things could we have done if only we had a good “start?”

How sad it must be to sit around and mope over lost time! However, what so many people do not understand is that age is just a number. Life is life and if you are alive then you have the potential to achieve anything you set your mind to. So let’s say an older person, a senior citizen perhaps, resents young people for their energy and their youthful bodies. Why?
