The Different Types Of Coffee

By: Corrie Duana

Second to water in popularity, coffee is consumed by billions of people throughout the world. Statistics have shown that about 400 billion cups are consumed annually and that children and adults have been taking it for several good reasons.

Coffee is a popular beverage served in two ways: hot or with ice. It is naturally prepared from the roasted seeds of a coffee plant, and these seeds are known as “coffee beans”. The beans originate from an evergreen tree which has grown and has been cultivated in a number of subtropical areas around the world, including Latin America, the Caribbean Islands, Africa, Arabian Peninsula, Indonesia and other regions in Southeast Asia.

Sweet And Spicy Mexican Style Desserts

By: Christine Szalay-Kudra

You will enjoy the rich and colorful cuisine of Mexico. Their desserts are as exceptional as their entrees. As Mexican food gains recognition, their desserts should be highlighted more frequently. Mexican cuisine has such a myriad of temptations that it is amazing the desserts have not gained more acclaim.

Many of the most popular desserts in Mexico are made of ice cream, puddings, or custards. Probably the best known custard in Mexico is the flan. This is a thick custard covered in a rich caramel sauce. Usually they are vanilla flavored, but they can also come in coconut, lime and other delicious varieties. Fried ice cream is probably one of the most bizarre desserts to some of us. The crisp coating is delicious… especially when paired with the creamy ice cream inside.

Traditional Mexican Cuisine

By: Grupo La Parrilla

The traditional Mexican cuisine is a feast for locals and foreigners. We have for example, the classic mole that requires preparation for more than 25 ingredients, according to type and region to which it belongs, so the amount of ingredients may vary. A Mexican buffet is one of the options more appealing when organizing a casual celebration, where you can usually find chalupitas, sopes, empanadas, tacos, tostadas, with an infinite variation of ingredients such as ground beef, beef tongue, cheese, steak, chicken, pork, or fish.

When moving along to the main course, the list of choices would be as long as the size of the country itself, and so delicious that it would be difficult to choose between a piece of cabrito norteno, or a succulent piece of pibil pork from a Maya kitchen of the Yucatan and Quintana Roo, wrapped in banana leaf with vibrant color as the axiote gives beef and pork. Flowers and Cuisines

By: Overseas Flower Delivery

Many cuisines, including our own, incorporate flowers as a matter of course. Yet it would take courage to go against the grain and create potentially edible wedding bouquets.

Commercially-grown flowers that have been chemically treated for fertility or longevity are unsuitable for eating. So are flowers that are not fully open, and those that are beginning to wilt. Bouquets must be dismantled, and flowers must be washed individually, to remove any adhering soil and insects.

Always remove anthers, styles, sepals, and stamens, unless you are certain they may be eaten. These detract from the flavour, and may cause allergic reactions.

My Favorite Thai Food

By: Christopher Snyder

I was thinking of providing a comprehensive of “foods found in Thailand” list but decided there are just too many and listing the foods that I love most would be far easier. So… The list below provides a short list of my favorite Thai foods.

Fried Rice - I love Thai style pork fried rice for breakfast. This is basic fried rice with tomatoes, onions with Thai spices like lime and chili thrown in at the end.

Thai Omelet - The Thai omelet is simple but delicious dish made of eggs, chili, onions, pork and other things as desire. The chilies make it spicy and Thai. The omelet is served with white rice.

The Origins of the Oregano Herb

By: Nova Person

Oregano herb was unheard of in the United States, and in most parts of the world, until after World War II, when returning soldiers came back with an appetite for the “pizza herb”. Oregano at that time, and even up to this day, was a staple pizza ingredient in Italy. However, the herb did not originate in Italy.

It was the Greeks who first cultivated and used oregano for culinary and medicinal applications. They even regard it as “panakes” or a cure-all herb because of its wonderful antiseptic and healing properties. They also use oregano leaves when making wreaths to hail and honor their gods and goddesses, and to celebrate joyous occasions such weddings, childbirth and victories. Oregano is also offered to the graves to bring peace to the souls of their departed loved ones.
