Is Sunday A Fun Day?
Is Sunday A Fun Day?
By: Pankaj Kumar Sarma
Working professionals work for the whole week and then on Saturday morning they know that the next day is a holiday, this sheer thought of a holiday enthralls us not the holiday itself. For working people Sundays are spent in shopping – to sustain themselves for the entire week, which is hardly fun. On Sundays we revisit the things we have done through the past week. This gives us a chance to be better individuals at the work place and probably also at home but that definitely ain’t funny. It’s just like some festival. When we have some festival to celebrate in the coming days we start counting the days and get filled with joy at the passing of every single day and as we draw near to the festival, but when the countdown finally ends, the day of the festival passes away at the wink of an eye and all we are left with is some memories and the reluctance to go back to work the next day.
There’s good reason behind the fact that Sundays are well anticipated but not well enjoyed. Every individual of the twenty first century is filled from head to toe with tension, attributed to different things that life offers. There is pressure from everywhere. This very fact motivates individuals too seek solace into thinks that do not expect them to deliver. We seek a cushion system to guard us from the heat and dust of the outside world. But we also know that such cushions are not easily available, so we get optimistic about getting one. As and when we get to know of a pending holiday or when Sunday is near, our mind tells us that fun time – a time to put our backs on to the big bad world is near and we rejoice at the thought of it. But what happens when we actually “live” a Sunday? We again start getting worried about getting back to work on Monday. The Monday morning blues actually start creeping in. So the thought of a Sunday is always better than the Sunday itself.
